The Central Arkansas Bears currently play in the Southland conference of Div I-AA and will be a full DIV I member by 2010. Before moving to Division II, UCA competed in the NAIA Division I. They won the national football championship three times and were runner-up once. Between 1979 and 1992, UCA won or shared 13 out of 14 Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference championships (AIC) and went to the playoffs 12 times.
